For insurance purposes after three sessions all members of the club must join Banyu Hatten Aikido Yuishinkai (our governing body), you must also be a member of BHAY if you wish to grade for a belt or attend a course or lesson elsewhere in the country. Membership for the year currently costs £30 and can be paid on either an annual or six monthly basis, please ask the instructor for a form.

Grading costs

Should you wish to grade for a belt and the instructor thinks that you are ready to do so then there is a separate charge for each grading you take, charges start at £10 for a 5th Kyu (yellow belt) grading and rise by about £4 for each grading therafter, you must be a member of Banyu Hatten Aikido Yuishinkai in order to grade.

Monthly Course

The Aberdeen Club has a special monthly course on the second Saturday of every month at the Beach Leisure Centre, guest instructors are often invited when we are able to do so, though it is usually taught by Mike Haft Sensei. Costs for this are £10 for 4hrs. Please check the news and events section for more details as times and dates can sometimes change for the monthly course.

University of Aberdeen Club

Annual Membership

A separate annual membership fee of £7 applies to the University Club, this is to cover the insurance requirements of the Sports Union and to provide funds for club events such as socials and travel for instructors who come to teach at the club etc... If members of the Aberdeen University Club wish to grade for a belt then they must also be members of BHAY as described above.

Costs per session

The University Club charges are £2.50 per session, this is because the facilities are provided free of charge to the University Club.
