The Aberdeen Aikido Club

The Aberdeen BHAY Club

The Aberdeen Banyu Hatten Aikido Yuishinkai Club's main training venue is the Beach Leisure Centre. The club was founded on the 24th of April 2006 by Mike Haft.

The club originally grew out of the University of Aberdeen Aikido Club, requests to train were frequently made by people outside of the University and unfortunately because of University policy they had to be refused. Because of this the club at the Beach Leisure Centre was opened so that people who wished to train but were not students or staff of the University could do so, plus the existing members of the University Club had the option of an extra evening a week to train. However since then the Aberdeen BHAY Club has grown to be more popular and successful than the University of Aberdeen Club which it grew out of, and it is now the main Banyu Hatten Aikido Yuishinkai club in Aberdeen, with subsidiary clubs in both the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University. All of the main BHAY events taking place in Aberdeen are arranged and hosted by the club, which provides instruction and senior grade level training for the University club members.

The club is organised and managed by the following club officers:

Dojo Leader & Senior Instructor Jo Duncan 1st Kyu Responsible for overseeing all teaching in the club
Deputy Dojo Leader Atholl Buchan 1st Kyu Responsible for overseeing all teaching in the club
Club Secretary Andy Kenney 2nd Kyu Responsible for the day to day administration of the club
